Purana jacket aur meri aaj ki kahani.

Hello!!! I hope everyone is doing fine in this extended quarantine! Mumbai's fast life is not so far now. Tab tak ke liye, welcome to my favourite memory. Well, Thursdays were the days when I was supposed to go to Skating Class. Yes! Skating class for one hour, also with one hour of dance class. Well, I was way too shy and an introvert girl who always stayed with mumma. I was afraid... of mostly everything. Afraid of things like speaking up and asking doubts to teachers. Or you can overall say that I was a shy kid. Well, there were no handsome boys or something glamorous that I would push myself to go to class. Hahaha. But I did. So I participated in an inter-school competition of skating. And guess what? I won? Nah. But I overcame my insecurities of not being an extrovert. Just cause’ it was my first time participating somewhere with no one known accompanying me. And there, on the front page, they had a candid picture of me and other participants rolling skates. Nah! I didn’t. But one of my friends did. And he came to my home to show me, “Voila! There you are!” Well, I was obsessed with my jacket! Woahooo there I ammm!!! As you can look at me in this picture. Purana jacket aur meri aaj ki kahani. When I was in fourth grade, I used to hate Thursdays. So I started going to classes with the forceful support of my mother and always found excuses to miss those skating classes. Ab kuch seekha hai toh pradarshan toh banta hai... I was happy! A year after that, another competition came up searching for new participants, advertising through pamphlets. There was the glimpse of the girl in the green jacket... "Did I recognise myself!?" I used to wear that green jacket every time, so most of the people did recognise me through that—green/white jacket witha  red star mark on the left sleeve. I was super happy, even with that blurry little glimpse of me with my favourite jacket. And today I found my skates from the store room—maybe after 5/6 years. I was super excited to wear my skates on again, but this time with all my heart and confidence within myself.      And... "Did you notice that!?" Me, in that baggy jacket—my brother’s perfect torn denim one. You should try one too (your own brother’s, of course). Haha. It’s just something a sister does when she has nothing else to do— steal her brother’s clothes. My brother’s T-shirts and jackets always look better on me. Fun fact: I annoy him every single time. And maybe that’s what growing up is— finding joy in small wins and jackets that don’t even belong to you. From blur in a pamphlet to laughing in baggy jackets—turns out, confidence isn’t always loud.
