This happened on 4th May 2020. I was in the mood to try something strange and unusual. People during quarantine were experimenting with their mother’s old 90s clothes or her wedding saree or gown. Meanwhile, I decided to try my father’s wedding suit.My father’s wedding suit
suits me better than
suits have suited many people,
suitably saying.
It was my best try-on ever. His waist size then was exactly the same as mine now. I felt very comfortable in those pants, even though they were oversized in terms of length. Maybe it felt more like palazzo pants to me.
My parents were amazed when they saw me wearing his old wedding suit. They couldn’t hold back and immediately began taking pictures of me.
I could probably say that this was my best quarantine day.
Honestly, I don’t think many girls would think of trying their father’s wedding suit. I suppose I’m an exception. After all, why should only boys have all the fun?
I liked it so much that I not only shared my photos with my friend but also posted them on my public Instagram account. My friends is the one I usually share all my unfiltered pictures with. Once I posted the photos, the response was overwhelming. I had never received reactions that quickly on any post before. It felt like all my friends were reaching out to me, and unexpectedly, I received some very thoughtful and fun compliments on that picture. I appreciated all of them.
Wearing my dad’s wedding suit during quarantine wasn’t just a random try-on—it turned into something meaningful. What began as a playful moment became a memory I’ll always hold close. That suit, stitched for one of the biggest days of his life, somehow became part of one of my favourite stories. It felt like starting a new kind of tradition—where moments matter more than reasons, and joy is found in the unexpected.
It felt like the start of a new tradition—where daughters borrow nostalgia, not just jackets.
And well, if memories had a dress code, mine would be tailored, vintage, and now Instagram approved.
