Becoming, Not Finding

“So, What’s Next?”

"Hello, beta! So what’s next?"
Me: "What next?"
"Matlab aage kya karna hai? Kuch socha toh hoga?"
Me: "I don’t know, uncle... I really don’t."
Study till 20, job by 25, marriage at 26, kids by 30, retirement at 60, and then just wait for death?
“This is how your life will go.”
No questions from relatives. No judgment. No unsolicited advice.
“You must have a dream.”
I don’t have one.
Maybe that means whatever course or path I pick, I’ll survive it. With effort, with focus. I guess. And honestly, I’m sure.
They work because they have to—because you need money to get by.
"Majboori."
Wherever you pin your location, boom—there you go. That’s your life now.
Pick a pin. Ping it. Go.
“You're sixteen or seventeen, right? Just focus on your tests. Give your best to studies. Life won’t stop teaching you anyway.”
See what catches your interest. Or your obsession.
Not everything has to be a calling.
Stop forcing yourself to "find your one true passion" like it’s some lost treasure inside you.
That “one true passion” isn’t always hiding under your ribs, waiting to be discovered. Sometimes, you don’t need to find that special thing. You can become it.
“You can be anything you want to be,
if only you believe with conviction,
and act in accordance with your faith.
Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
So, what’s next?
Maybe not having an answer is the most honest one right now.
